Smackdown 23th August!

Smackdown 23th August!

Here we go again for another episode of Smackdown! The show kicks off with the guy who's all about “finish the story” at WrestleMania 40! Our guy Cody Rhodes is on the Grayson Waller Effect! Yeah, Grayson Waller with his show—everyone's thinking it, let’s just hope he gets what’s coming to him!

Our buddy Waller struts in like he’s the king of provocation, but in the end, he’s just a dunderheaded! While welcoming Cody, he keeps interrupting him, trying to paint him as a selfish dude who only cares about the WWE title. But who the heck is Waller to judge? He’s clinging to Austin Theory like a lifeguard to a surfboard.

Waller rolls out a video of Kevin Owens "betraying" his friends, Owens storms in and totally wrecks Waller’s whole act, pointing out that, aside from Kofi, those guys had it coming. The real kicker? Waller and Theory thought they had the upper hand, but they end up scrambling when Owens and Cody team up. By the end, Waller looks more like a clown in a circus than a host, while the crowd keeps cheering for Cody. I loved Kevin Owens when he called the general manager to ask for a match against Waller and Theory, and if he could just punch them! Aldis's response was "Sure, but hurry up," while looking at his watch! Hilarious!

Here comes the first match of the night for the United States Championship: LA Knight vs. Santos Escobar.

In an epic showdown, LA Knight defends his title against Santos Escobar, who seems to have more friends than skills. Legado Del Fantasma decides to give LA Knight a warm welcome... right into the barricade! But surprise! Referee Jessica Carr calls it quits and sends everyone home, including Elektra Lopez.

After a rocky start, LA Knight gets back on his feet, and the match truly begins. Escobar attempts a spectacular dive, but LA Knight has other plans and dodges it. They exchange blows like it’s a boxing party, and the announcer's table looks more like a battleground.

After a series of aerial moves and knockout punches, LA Knight finally seals the match with his BFT, leaving Escobar to ponder how having friends during a wrestling match might not be the best idea. And so, LA Knight remains champion, while Escobar enjoys his moment of g

lory... as a spectator.

And the winner is the phenomenal LA Knight, who remain Champion!!

"Backstage scenes I absolutely love! Carmelo Haytes tells Andrade not to sweat the other match, and Andrade storms into the dressing room saying he wants a rematch next week. You know what? I’m totally digging that!

Now, onto the second match of the evening featuring the Women’s Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn alongside Blair Davenport against Bianca Blair, Jade Cargill, and Naomi in a 6-Woman Tag Team Match. Team Jade Cargill, Bianca Belair, and Naomi came out on top, with Naomi securing the win for her squad with a Moonsault followed by the pin. It was an electrifying encounter where the athletes gave it their all in the ring!

During the match, Jade Cargill pulled off a spectacular moment by executing a Powerbomb on Alba Fyre, showcasing her strength and skills in the ring. Talk about a crowd-pleaser! Fun fact: Bianca, Jade, and Naomi’s costumes pay homage to Olympic champion Simone Biles!" The choice to draw inspiration from Simone Biles for their costumes likely stems from her incredible achievements as an Olympic gymnast. Biles is renowned for her unmatched skills, strength, and grace in gymnastics, and her impact extends beyond the sport. By paying homage to her, the wrestlers celebrate her resilience, determination, and status as a role model.  I really hope Jade and Bianca in Bash in Berlin will win the Women’s Tag team Champions! I love these strongest, beautiful wrestlers! Break a leg Bianca & Jade!!

Yo, here we are, with The Bloodline (Tanga Loa and Tama Tonga) defending their WWE Tag Team Championship titles against The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) in the third match of the night. The vibe is electric, and the fans are ready for some epic action!

The match kicks off: Tama Tonga and Dawkins trading blows, but Tama Tonga hits back with a clothesline. Meanwhile, Loa steps in, and the champs work together like a well-oiled machine. But hold up, Ford is in the ring! Double team on Tama Tonga, and it looks like the champs are catching some heat.

Ford hits us with a moon sault, followed by a sweet clothesline on Tama Tonga. But watch out, Loa’s back! Double team on Ford, but he ain’t backing down. Ford lands a head kick on Loa – seems like the champs need an aspirin!

Dawkins gets in the mix with a sky-high move on Loa. And now Ford from the top rope! Spectacular frog splash! But Tama Tonga breaks the count. Outside the ring, Loa introduces Ford to the steel steps – they’re practically BFFs now.

Tama Tonga hops back in the ring and smashes Ford face-first onto the mat. And now, the

grand finale: Tama Tonga plants Dawkins with a facebuster and gets the pin!

Winners: Still the champs, the “new fake” Bloodline! We all know who the real bloodline is, though!

But wait, what’s going down? Solo and Jacob Fatu storm the ring, attacking The Street Profits. But hold up, here comes DIY! They initially took it to The Bloodline, but Jacob Fatu hits Ciampa with a Samoan Spike, and Solo does the same. It’s a brutal ballet of fists and fury!

And now, let’s cut backstage to Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens. Cody tells Owens it’s time to shut everyone up tonight. Owens assures Cody he’s not the same guy anymore, and Cody believes him. Owens just wants Cody to know he didn’t ask for the tag team match to set him up. Cody nods – trust is all he’s got.

Main Event of the Night: Cody Rhodes & Kevin Owens vs. Waller & Theory!

But just for kicks, Austin Theory's gonna realize that Waller's just using him; everyone in the locker room is telling him!

The bell rings, and the match kicks off! Cody and Waller go at it right away: Cody throws some punches and locks in an armbar. Owens tags in, and they work together like a well-oiled machine on Waller. A solid elbow smash, followed by a splash, and Cody goes for the pin, but Waller kicks out. Cody’s back to the armbar, and Owens is back in with a punch. But here comes Theory, trying to play smart, charging at Cody, who drops him with a nice hook. Distracted, Owens gets clocked by Waller, and Theory jumps in to lend a hand.

We’re back from the break, and Owens hits a frog splash on Waller. Cody tags in, slams Waller with an elbow, and then nails a sick power slam. He jumps off the second rope and lands a dope "disaster kick," sending Waller flying outside the ring. But Theory’s not done; he yanks Cody out, only to get tossed onto the announce table. Cody sneaks back in, but Waller surprises him with a flat liner. Pin attempt, but Cody kicks out. Theory enters the fray, double-teaming Cody with Waller. But Cody’s a champ and fights back with a Cody Cutter on Theory.

Waller tries to mess with Owens, but he’s too slick and dodges. Cody goes for the tag, but Theory hits him with a back suplex. Pin attempt, but Cody’s not having it! Waller tags in, and Cody flips the script, tossing them both out of the ring. Finally, Owens is back in, throwing clotheslines and hitting a cannonball on Theory. After another cannonball, he climbs up top and nails a swanton. Pin attempt, but Theory breaks it up. Cody steps in and hits Theory with the Crossroads.

Owens gets back up, goes for the Stunner, but Waller surprises him with a roll-up. Owens kicks out! He lands a superkick and then a pop-up powerbomb on Waller. Count it… and it’s over!

Winners, of course, are Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens!

After the match, Cody gives A-Town Down Under a look, while Owens, holding the WWE Undisputed Championship, approaches him like he's about to start something. But surprise! Owens isn’t there to throw hands; he hands over the title! He starts yelling at A-Town Down Under, leaving Cody a bit puzzled. Owens lifts Cody’s arm in victory as SmackDown wraps up. What a finish that leaves everyone on the edge of their seats… or just cracking a smile with a hint of sarcasm! Great match, but nothing too wild! The most intriguing part? Owens’ ambiguous vibe! What’s gonna go down at Bash in Berlin?

Solid episode of SmackDown with some decent matches, but let’s be real, we had the Attitude Era that delivered jaw-dropping moments, and it feels like something’s missing! Gotta say, we missed Roman Reigns today!

Catch ya at the next episode of Raw on Tuesday for my personal comment!

Xoxo

Selena!
